Manac celebrates its 60th anniversary
60 years of vision, ingenuity, and family pride
Since 1966, Manac has been driven by a powerful engine: the passion and expertise passed down through generations of the Dutil family. Founded by Marcel Dutil, Manac was born in Saint‑Georges, in a simple garage attached to the family house, to meet a pressing need for reliable semi‑trailers for Canam Steel Works.
In the first year, the team built 11 trailers, marking the beginning of a story that would shape the transportation industry in Canada and across North America. Over the decades, Manac continued to grow, innovate, and diversify its offering, driven by a clear purpose: to provide customized, sustainable solutions for carriers while remaining aligned with real market needs. This mission, which remains at the heart of the company, has enabled Manac to become Canada's largest manufacturer of specialized semi‑trailers and a major player across North America.
A Heritage of Innovation: The Family Behind Manac
Marcel Dutil – Founder & Chairman of the Board
A visionary and entrepreneur at heart, Marcel Dutil built Manac on a simple conviction: “If the market is missing something, let's make it ourselves—and make it better.” His practical engineering instinct and business acumen laid the foundation for an agile company, closely connected to its customers and proudly rooted in the Beauce.
Charles Dutil – President and Chief Executive Officer
Since taking the helm, Charles Dutil has continued this trajectory by placing innovation, quality, and collaboration at the core of operations. Under his leadership, Manac has established itself as a forward‑thinking industry leader, focused on continuous improvement, product diversity, and manufacturing excellence.
“Our strength lies in our ability to listen, to learn, and to build solutions that make a real difference for our customers.” – Charles Dutil
Antoine Dutil – Mobile Service Manager
Representing the third generation, Antoine embodies the future of Manac. Close to the field and to customers, he helps uphold the promise of exceptional service and a direct presence with transport operators. His vision naturally aligns with the family legacy: pragmatism, passion, and commitment.
“Being on the road with our customers means understanding their reality and ensuring our trailers always rise to the challenges they face.” – Antoine Dutil
A story of growth, innovation, and humanity
From the very first flatbed trailer built in 1966 to today's specialized product lines, Manac has never stopped innovating: fiberglass reinforced plywood (FRP) vans (1977), the first galvanized vans (1982), curtain‑side flatbeds and chip trailers (late 1980s), and much more. This continuous evolution reflects a deeply manufacturing‑driven DNA, firmly focused on the future.
